Yesterday, Tuesday May 13th was a Thai Buddhist Holiday called Visakha Bucha Day. Visakha Bucha Day falls on the full moon day of the sixth lunar month and is one of the most important days in Buddhism, as the day marks three important incidents in the life of The Buddha including his birth, his enlightenment and his passing away.
My photos are of Wat Pratum Wanaram, nestled in the middle of Downtown Bangkok and Adjacent to the largest mall in Bangkok, CentralWorld Mall. As you can see from the zoomed in version of the temple below, there were thousands of people paying homage by hold a candle light vigil and surrounding the Temple to celebrate the sacred day.
This evening ritual will be repeated in all the Temples throughout Thailand on this holiday.
