Mae Hong Song is a quiet little Thailand town in the northwest corner of Thailand, adjacent to the Myanmar Border and nestled in low lying areas within the Shan Hills. The Road to Mae Hong Song is tough drive, having more that a thousand curves as it winds through the mountains, but the drive is worth it! The quiet streets of Mae Hong Son seem magically peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and the air is clear and clean!
The best views of the town is from Wat Pharathat Doi Kong Mu, located on the summit of a tall hill bisecting the town and giving the lucky visitor a 360 degree view of the city and surrounding mountains. Check out the video and photos below for a quick look at Mae Hong Song's Temple.
During my visit to Mae Hong Song, the town was having a festival sponsored by the Royal Family to inspire more tourist interest. Check out the video and photos below for a look at the fun I had at the festival.
