"Les petits éléphants de Chiangrai" Ceremony at CentralWorld

This Past Weekend there was a ceremony at CentralWorld Mall Inaugurating the "Les petits éléphants de Chiangrai" exhibit of 60 hand painted fiberglass elephants from 60 separate Chiang Rai artists and sponsored by the French Embassy.

Each artist has generously personalized each elephant in their own individual art style to the artists' imagination recalling the fruitful memory of the history and beauty of the forest in Thailand’s ''Lanna Kingdom”.  The Lanna Kingdom was a centered in present-day northern Thailand (that included Chiang Rai) from the 13th to 18th centuries where forest elephants were integrated into both the people of Lanna people’s religion and everyday life.  Following the ceremony, each of the 60 elephants will be on exhibit at the Embassy of France in Bangkok.  The ceremony was attended by Chalermchai Kositpipat, world renowned Thai Artist and owner/curator of the famous Wat Rong Khun (the White Temple).
